How It Affected The World

Three main ethnic groups were in conflict in the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina including the Serbians, the Croatians, and the Muslims. Genocide occurred by the Serbians against the Muslims in Bosnia. They could never have peace between each other. By February of 1994, the world immediately payed attention to Bosnia. A Serbian mortar shell hit a marketplace in Sarajevo that killed 68 people and wounding about 200. All this commotion quickly became news in the media attracting viewers globally. Military action was placed against the Serbians. The Serbians fought back by attacking the peacekeepers. The Serbs had taken many peacekeepers hostage and used them as artillery, attaching them to targets and ammo supply dumps. By November 1st, 1995, the President of Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic finally agreed to discuss peace. Weeks after, peace was declared by splitting Bosnia in to two portions. One part was the Bosnian Serb Republic and the other was the Muslim-Croat Federation.
