Spanish American War and Acquisition of Guam, Philippines, Puerto Rico & Cuba

The Spanish American War happen in 1898 after seeing 3 years of Cuban's rebel fighting for their independents from Spain. The reasons why the United States got involve in world affairs is that it was close to the United States, two it was economically linked, and lastly for the protection of its shores. The conflict between the United States and Spain only lasted for 4 months with the United States winning the war. When the war ended, both governments sign the Treaty of Paris which gave Cuba their independents and forcing the Spanish empire to give up Guam and Puerto Rico to the United States. The Spanish Empire also agree to sell Guam for $20 million.
