Treaty of Paris

After the Battle of Manila (the last battle of the war in the Philippines) the Spanish American War ended with Spanish defeat. To formally end the Spanish-American war the Treaty of Paris was signed in France on December 10, 1898. With the defeat of the Spanish the Philippines felt as though they were finally free however part of the treaty gave the United States control of the Philippines. For nearly 20 million dollars Spain sold the Philippines over to the United States.
