How it affect the United States

There were many events that affected the U.S. from its involvement in the war.

  • The Lend-Lease act generated money back into the economy, creating nearly full employment. This helped end the great depression and force the U.S. economy back on its feet.

  • Socially, it helped unite our country as a family, giving a more nationalist view to the citizens after fighting against other countries, and surviving the attack of Pearl Harbor.

  • The end of the war saw a huge boost in college enrollment, and a massive lift for the economy because of the money which the people had saved during the war, also it was the money to buy or replace supplies that were simply unavailable during the war such as cars, washing machines etc.

  • Started a boom in housing creating the suburbs and other forms of housing developments.

  • With men joining the war, women stepped it up in the economy and in house holds, this helped support the women's right movement and eventually led to equality for women.

  • Taking no war damage, it was easy to come out of the world extremely wealthy and the only nation with an atomic bomb (until 1949), it made it easy for the U.S. to become a super power.
