Affects on the World

WWI caused more than 9 million deaths in total. Families from both the Central and Allied powers lost husbands, sons and friends. Many troops the returned home carried disease, and this caused an estimated 50 million to die from disease.

All the countries that took part in the war tightened up their government. Country's governments assumed greater control over society, old regimes collapsed and were replaced by new political orders.

The end of war ended in more conflict. Many national groups in Europe tried to gain their own independence The war mainly disrupted Europeans societies. Before Europe was very peaceful when it came to affairs. After 1918, Europe was more forceful when it came to resort issues. The war lowered societies confidence in their government.

The first war did not completely cause the second war, but it did contribute to it. The Treaty of Versailles held Germany accountable for much of the war. This hurt Germany's economy greatly, as the costs were extremely high.
