Spanish American War

The Spanish American war was an intervention between the United States and Spain in an effort to expand their territory, trading routes and end the Spanish colonial rule in Guam, Philippines , Puerto Rico and Cuba. The chaos only lasted a few months, it was over when Spain signed a peace treaty giving the United States control of Cuba , Puerto Rico , Philippine island and Guam. Cuba however became an independent country rather than the territory of the U.S. or Spain.
