February 4, 1899 - The Philippine American War begins.

February 5, 1899 - The Battle of Manila, the largest of the war, occurs.

February 6, 1899 - The U.S. Senate votes to annex the Philippines.

March 31, 1899 - American forces capture the capital of the Philippine Republic, Malolos.

April 1899 - March 23, 1901 - Fighting continues throughout the Philippines.

March 23, 1901 - Emilio Aguinaldo is captured and asks his followers to surrender, but many still resist and the fighting continues.

July 4, 1902 - The U.S. declares victory, though fighting continues until 1910.
