June 12, 1898- Emilio Aguinaldo signs the proclamation of independence.

December 12, 1898- The U.S and Spain sign the Treaty of Paris which ended the Spanish American war. One thing in the treaty of Paris was that America can have the Philippines as its territories. America didn’t think the Philippines was not stable enough to have their own self-governance and be on their own.

February 4, 1899- An U.S troop shoot and kills 4 Filipino troops which starts the Philippine American war.

February 6, 1899- the U.S voted to annex the Philippines.

Spring and Summer 1899- fight still continued American had a good advantage their troops were trained and had enough weapons. The Filipinos didn’t have it so easy they had shortage of weapons and had Guerrilla war tactics.

July 4, 1902- America won with a victory and still had the Philippines as one of its territories.
