Theodore Roosevelt's Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine (1905)

In the year 1904-1905 Roosevelt expanded the Monroe Doctrine. It stated that the United States had the responsibility to maintain order, protect life and property in the countries of the Western Hemisphere that was not open to colonization by European powers.
