  • 1812-1829- The U.S. became tangled in the War of 1812-1829 between Napoleonic France and Great Britain.

  • 1816- James Monroe was elected President of the Untied States.

  • 1817- The Rush-Bagot Pact was established.

  • 1819(Feb 22)- Under the Adams-Onis Treaty Florida was acquired as a state from Spain. In return the U.S. acknowledged Spanish power over Texas.

  • 1823(Dec 2)- The Monroe Doctrine was is set into action.

  • 1824(Jan 1)- John Quincy Adams was elected President of the United States by Congress.

  • 1845(Dec 2)- President James K Polk invoked the Monroe Doctrine after it been out of of America's mind for over 20 years.

  • 1852(May 5)- Some American agreed that the Monroe Doctrine was a argument against Cuba being in Spain.

  • 1893(Jan 9)- The U.S. expanded its borders and conquered Hawaii.

  • 1898(Jan 9)- The Spanish American War began.
