Declaring Independence

The American Revolutionary War was a fight for independence and by June, 1776 a growing majority of the colonists had to favor independence from Britain. Finally on July 4, the continental congress approved and signed the Declaration of Independence, drafted by a five-man committee and mainly written by Jefferson. Making what we now know as the United States of America.
