Woodrow Wilson- The 28th American President of the United States whose term was during the peace conference of Versailles. His role was quite important as he was a strong supporter of the league of nations, which is a an international forum and an international collective security arrangement.

Henry Cabot Lodge- An American Republican Senator who wanted amendments made before they would ratify the Treaty. Lodge demanded Congressional control of declarations of war; Woodrow Wilson refused and blocked Lodge's move to ratify the treaty with reservations. As a result, the United States never joined the League of Nations.
