Timeline

Vietnam a country that has dealt with hardships and experienced success throughout time. From fighting against the French for independence to fighting one another for ruling government system. The country has seen decades of war, deaths, and had to face the challenges put upon them like the trade restriction that lasted 20 years. America then involving themselves with the countries civil war which only led to many deaths, economic problems, and the stalling of the inevitable take over of the South. The United States and Vietnam have been through much good or bad throughout the decades.

1945-Ho Chi Minh Declares Independence on Vietnam.

1946- Negotiations between French and Vietnam breakdown.

1947-Vietminh Move North of Hanoi.

1949-Bao Dai and president Vincent Auriol of France sign the Elyse Agreement.

1950- Chinese, soviets offer weapons to Vietnam

1953- France grants Laos full independence

1954- French defeated at Bien Bien Pho

!955- China and Soviet Union pledge additional financial support to talbai and start of Vietnam war

1956-French leave Vietnam

1957-13 Americans who work for Maag and U.S information service are wounded in terrorist bombings in saigon.

1959-North begin to invade South Vietnam

1964-The Unites States enter war as provided aid

1973-The U.S completely pull out of war and leave Vietnam

1975-North Vietnam takes over South making country whole under rule of communism

1991-97 Bill Clinton was elected as United States President.

2000- The United States and Vietnam sign Bilateral Trade Agreement
