PERSIAN GULF WAR

THE MIDDLE EASTERN REGION has always been troubled given Iraq and Iran had constantly been at war against each other. Iraq had became a big threat to many countries of Arab descent, when Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, threatened to invade Kuwait. This caused neighboring countries, Egypt and Saudi Arabia to ask United Nations arbitrate the wrath of Iraq. When Saddam Hussein disregarded United Nations orders to leave Kuwait by mid-January 1991, Operation Desert Storm was in full effect. The mass air offense began the Persian Gulf War, that lasted for 42 days. By February 28, President George H.W. Bush commanded to ceasefire abiding the fact that most Iraqi military fled or surrendered. The Persian Gulf War was ultimately a prequel to the war in Iraq that began in 2003.
