Timeline

    • November 1947-The United Nations confirmed the elections to be in Korea to decide for a territorial government in the county.

    • May 10, 1948- People in South Korea chose a National Assembly while the North declines to participate.

    • September 9, 1948- Communists of North Korea creates the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

    • June 25, 1950- 135,000 soldiers from the NKPA took over the Republic of Korea & join the 38th parallel.

    • June 25, 1950- North Korea’s actions for termination was condemned by the UN Security Council from hostilities

    • June 26, 1950- General Douglas MacArthur was directed by US President Harry S. Truman to get American dependents from Korea so that they can help the ROK Army

    • June 30, 1950- President Harry Truman instructs the ground troops to go into action

    • July 1950- US soldiers murder a good number of Korean citizens under a bridge, near a town called No Gun RI in the first month of the war. It is unknown whether the soldiers were told to murder citizens or follow up on their own.

    • July 5, 1950- US soldiers go into war in Osan. Kenneth Shadrick dies during the war.

    • June 23, 1951-Jacob Malik declares a cease-fire

    • July 10, 1951 - Truce talks begin at Kaesong

    • October 25, 1951 - Truce talks get relocated to Panmunjom.

    • November 27, 1951- Both sides come to the conclusion that if Truce is reached in 30 days, the current battle lines would be the end of the dividing line between North and South Korea

    • April 1952 - Truce talks are deadlocked over voluntary repatriation.

    • October 8, 1952 - Truce talks get withdrawn

    • April 26, 1953- Truce talks are continued again

    • July 27, 1953- Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Chinese People's Volunteers and the UN sign a ceasefire agreement. The Republic of Korea declines to sign but the war ceased about 12 hours later

    • 2007-present- The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency displays news online about how frequently accounting for service members still remains.

    • April 27, 2018- During a long conference, South Korea’s President, Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong UN pledged to end the Korean War after 65 years of hostilities ceased.
