Spanish American War

The Spanish American War of 1898 resulted in a united states victory. The war was fought to end Spain's colonial empire in the western hemisphere also to secure United states position as a pacific power. with the U.S victory it produced a peace treaty that made Spaniards relinquish claims on Cuba and to also cede sovereignty over Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippians. Lastly the war allowed the united states to establish its predominance in Latin America and also helped them to pursue their strategic and economic interests in Asia. The american economy went from small businesses to one big on and they were becoming stronger than any other country.
