The Six Day War's Key Figures

Menachem Begin is the person who had insisted on the signing of a peace treaty recognizing Israel.

David Ben-Gurion established the Rafi (list of Israeli worker) and Hareshima Hamamlachtit (state list), winning Knesset seats in the elections of 1965-1969.

King Hussein bin Talal encourageed all - including the less fortunate, the disabled and the orphaned - to achieve more for themselves and their country. He was also instrumental in drafting UN Security Council Resolution 242, which called on Israel to withdraw from Arab lands it occupied in the 1967 war in exchange for peace.

Eli Cohen was Israel's greatest spy. He provided an incredible amount of intelligence data to the Israeli Army over a period of three years. In 1967, the Israelis were able to conquer the Golan Heights in two days - in part due to the intelligence he provided.

Moshe Dayan was the one who made the decision to launch a full-scale attack against the Syrians. He had also ended the fighting by arranging a cease-fire with Syria.

Levi Eshkol Eshkol established a Government of National Unity, relinquishing the Defense portfolio to Moshe Dayan and bringing Menachem Begin of Herut into the Cabinet.

Rabbi Shlomo Goren was often noted for his bravery, accompanying troops to the front and at times going behind enemy lines to bring back the dead for burial; he rose to the rank of brigadier general.

Yom Kippur War's Key Figures

Ahmad Ismali Ali was the commander in Chief of Egypt's army and the minister of war during the Yom Kippur Was of 1937. Also, he is best known for his planning across the Suez Canal (Operation Badr).

Abdul Munim Wassel (Major General) was the commander of the Egyptian third army during the Yom Kippur War of 1973.

Muhammad Hosni El Sayed Mubarak was the former Egyptian President, leader, and military commander.
