The Monroe Doctrine

The Monroe Doctrine was a U.S. Foreign policy regarding domination of the american continent in 1823. Further efforts by European nations to colonize land and interfere with North and South America was viewed as acts of aggression, regarding U.S. intervention.

In the year 1823 President James Monroe delivers his annual message to congress. The reason James Monroe was because he wanted to call for a bold approach to american foreign policy that was called "Monroe Doctrine".

Monroe Doctrine was noted by the Great Power of Europe, but it eventually became a longstanding tenet of U.S. foreign policy.

Once Monroe made the announcement, american policymakers did not invoke the Doctrine against European power despite their military in Latin America.
