Relationship Between Latin America and the United States

Throughout the 1800s, the United States has been involved with Latin America. In general, Latin America has had many resources that the U.S. needed, like cane sugar. Since the U.S. needed to have a good relationship with Latin America for trade reasons, they have continually sent troops to help their government. Whenever the U.S. sent troops to Latin America it was to protect the people from their weak government to show that the U.S. supports them becoming independent. Also, after the U.S.-Mexican War (1846-1848), there was a huge wave of migration. This was because the Mexican government was weak and vulnerable for attack. The people of Mexico left to protect themselves and came to America. The United States is still one of the first choices for Mexicans to migrate to, even though we're under different circumstances.
