Philippine/Spanish-American War/Philippine Revolution (1896-1898) Spring 2012

Filipino independence struggled after more than 300 years of Spanish colonial rule. The Spanish-American War brought Spain’s rule in the Philippines close in 1898 but precipitated in the Philippine-American War, a bloody war between Filipino revolutionaries and the U.S. Army. This war began because Armed military conflicted with the people of the Philippines and the Spanish colonial authorities which resulted in the secession of the Philippine Islands from the Spanish Empire.
