Pearl Harbor

On December 7, 1941 a surprise military attack from Japan on Pearl Harbor led to them joining the war.

Nearly 20 American naval vessels were damaged or destroyed, including eight battleships and over 300 airplanes.

About 1,000 wounded, 2,400 dead.

The Battle of Midway was a great victory for the U.S. They destroyed Japan's first line

carrier strength. The victory of The Battle of Midway had forced Japan to not

prosecute an offensive war.
