Battle Of Manila Bay

Commodore George Dewey lead his naval fleet to victory on May 1, 1898. Once he arrived in Malia Bay after a couple weeks of preparation he commanded his fleet to attack the Spanish antiquated fleet that resided their who was led by Patricio Montojo. Him and his min won the battle with only eight wounded soldiers and one death from a heart attack, unlike the Spanish soldiers who lost 161 soldiers, had 210 injured, and loss 8 vessels. The Spanish leader Patricio escaped the battle on a small boat, but he was later prosecuted and jailed by the Spanish Supreme Court. This was the first victory for the United States in the developing war.

Battle of San Roque, Cavite Province

This battle occurred on February 9, 1899 In San Roque, Cavite Province. The battle happened after The Battle Of Manila. The American troops tried to reason with the residence of San Roque and requested that if they get out of the base before 11 o clock they wouldn't bombard them. The San Roque residence hoisted a white flag in agreement so the United States troops could move further in, but it was a trap. Bombs were detonated and they went in to battle. The American's won the battle.

Battle of Caloocan

On February 10th, 1899 following the notice of multiple troops of Philippine's troops arriving by train to Caloocan American General Arthur C. MacArthur Jr decided seize the valuable railroad center. The American's invaded with ease, battling off every defense that the Caloocan's threw at them. Rebel citizens attempted to burn down the whole city in an effort to take away with American's were trying to take control of. They were soon stopped by the troops and soon after the battle sent to prison. Finally, MacArthur reached the capital building of Caloocan claiming the victory for the United States, which marked another battle won by the US.

The Attacks On San Fernando

The Filipinos attacked the US Troops twice at San Fernando, and both attempts were unsuccessful. The first attack was on May 24, 1899 a little after dawn and the Filipino soldiers began shooting at the american soldiers but were turned around as US Troops shot back and kept them at bay. Fifty-Three Filipinos were killed and twenty-nine were taken prisoner by the American soldiers who only loss two soldiers and had ten wounded. A little after three weeks later on June 16th the Filipinos attacked again with an infantry of over 4000, but they still loss too the US. The second attack ended with 36 Filipinos killed and 6 US troops wounded.

Massacre of Balangiga

During the morning of September 28th, 1901 the Filipino soldiers led a surprise attack upon the United States Soldiers. They attacked due the unruly mistreat from the soldiers to the Balangiga people and town. The Filipinos attacked while the troops were eating breakfast. Many American troops were killed from the attack. The Filipinos then took possession of all the rations that the troop had to help feed the people during their famine season. Also, they freed about 80 of the people from their city that were rounded up and imprisoned by the US army. This was one of the first wins for the Filipinos, but the US followed back with a horrible murdering spree approved by the government that they have not yet apologized for.
