Philippine - American War / Philippine Revolution (1896-1898)

On June 2, 1899 the Philippines continued their quest for independence as war with the United States began, a quest which originally started against the Spanish during the Philippine Revolution. This war is directly linked to the United States foreign policy due to the fact that this is a strategy of the United States to deal with other nations. By attempting to control the Philippines the United States essentially demonstrated imperialism, a policy of extending control beyond the original lines in an effort to become more powerful. After the Battle of Manila and the Treaty of Paris the fate of the Philippines stood in the hands of the United States. The outraged Philippines continued to fight for their freedom even after essentially being purchased by the United States.
