Vietnam War

Overview

This is a war that lasted for about 21 years. The conflict was reinforced by the ongoing cold war between the U.S and Soviet Union. More than 58,000 Americans were killed. Even after President Richard Nixon ordered the withdrawal of U.S forces in 1973, Communist forces ended by seizing control of South Vietnam in 1975. On January of 1973, the United States and North Vietnam concluded a final peace disagreement. In 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was unveiled in Washington, D.C. On it was inscribed the names of 57,939 Americans killed or missing in the war.
