Effect on World

Great Britain was not effected very much by the War of 1812, and therefore have almost completely forgotten it. However, Canada will never forget this war.

The battlefield was mainly in the British owned Canadian land. Many Canadians look back at the war with pride as they fought alongside the British to defeat the enemy. Many Canadians were even American born and still felt a sort of nationalism toward Canada and loyalty toward Great Britain, leading them to fight against their former homeland.

Many even say that Canadians were fighting for their own national existence. If the War of 1812 had never happened, the map would not be as it is now. This is because American settlers would have taken over Canada and it could possibly have become part of the United States.
