Key Figures

Osama Bin Laden

Laden achieved fame as America's most wanted terrorist as a result of the bombing of United States. He joined the Afghan resistance, and quickly became a key figure by supplying bulldozers and equipment from his father's company. He used $80 million, which he inherited after his father's death in 1968, to fund an intricate network of fighters loosely grouped together under the name Al-Qaeda. In 1992, the organisation was linked to the bombing of a hotel in Aden, Yemen, in which US soldiers had been staying. Osama bin Laden has been on the FBI's Most Wanted list since 1999. He is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, which killed 2,823 people.
