A militant group named Al Shabaab banned 16 aid organizations from the southern and central part of Somalia. The group sent out soldiers to confiscate and get rid of all agencies and their equipment in those areas. Al Shabaab released a belief that the aid organizations were performing illicit or in other words "illegal" activities. Al Shabaab also used that belief to accuse the aid organizations for financing and aiding subversive groups wanting to destroy basic tenets of the Islamic penal system.
