Each of the thirteen colonies produced at least two signatures for the declaration, the most signatures produced by one colony was nine and that was by Pennsylvania. Among the signers from the Pennsylvania colony was Benjamin Franklin. Franklin was a businessman, writer, publisher, scientist, diplomat, legislator, and social activist.
