Annexation of Hawaii Spring 2012

Summary: The Annexation of Hawaii was when Hawaii became a part of the United States and our 50th State. The United States feared that Hawaii would become part of the European Empire because of the bribery from the British and French. The United States helped many of the Hawaiian business men overthrow their Queen which got Hawaii out of Monarchy and helped make them a territory, and eventually a State. Many people had an impact in this like Queen Liliuokalani who was the last queen of Hawaii and tried to regain her power after she was taken from the thrown. Many other things impacted the decisions that were made to make Hawaii a state, like the war that broke in 1898 in Spain. Hawaii is a place of a lot of significance because it can be used for trade and bases for military units. Even after the war in Spain, Hawaii did not become a State until 1959.
