January 24, 1946

  • The United Nations passed its first resolution, the elimination of nuclear weapons.

October 24, 1949

  • The United Nations headquarters started being build in New York after John Rockefeller donated the land needed.

September 1960

  • Seventeen new states were admitted to the United Nations, sixteen of the seventeen were from Africa.

1980

  • The Iran was began. The UN called for a ceasefire. The war went on until 1988.
