Philippine-American War/Philippine Revolution (1896-1898)

The Philippine-American War started on account of American taking control of the Spanish colonies after the Spanish-American War. Instead of giving in to American control, the Philippines decided to fight for their independence. Ironically, the country that had control over them and the country that helped Cuba in the Spanish-American War went through the same struggle. In the end, it was a matter of resources and experience that determined the outcome of the conflict.

The United States became a recognized power in the world.
