The Second War
Although the United States challenged the Barbary States with war, it was only a matter of time before they resumed their piracy. The second Barbary war was fought between Ottoman Empire's regencies of Tripoli, Tunis and Algeria against the United States. It marked the end of the support of piracy in the Atlantic region. On March 3rd, 1815, congress authorized naval deployment. Soon after, the Ottoman Empire's regencies signed a treaty that guaranteed return of all Americans who were held for ransom and no tribute requirement that granted the United States full shipping rights.
