Emilio Aguinaldo was the leader who tried to achieve independence from Spain in 1898, but didn't succeed. Emilio also declared Independence from the United States. During the war he was captured by the United States on March 23, 1901. Emilio swore to an Oath of Allegiance to the United States which caused peace between the United States and the Philippines.

His role during the war not to let the Philippians gain independence. He believes that they were incapable for self-governance. He looked as the Philippines as refueling place since the U.S had a naval base there.

Melchora Aquino de Ramos was born January 6, 1812 in the location of Caloocan. She was born into a peasant life and didn't attend any school throughout any time of her life, but appeared to be really intelligent, wise, and smart. Melchora is well known for her contribution during the revolution when 84 years old. During the revolution she opened her store up to the sick and wounded people, gave them them medical care and even fed them. She also did prayer sessions with the revolutionaries in hope of giving them good luck. She also opened her home to those who wanted to have secret meetings held. By doing these things for so many years she was given the name " Tanang Sora".
