There are many different events in history that lead to the existence of the United Nations.

January 1, 1942-

Shortly after the U.S. entered WWII President Roosevelt coined the phrase "United Nations."

From August to October the Dumbarton Oaks Conference was held. The purpose of the conference was to discuss forming a international organization to maintain peace and to avoid another WW. Due to the Dumbarton Oaks Charter it formed the outline for the U.N. Charter.

Representatives from 50 countries met in San Francisco for the U.N. Conference on International Organization.

The United Nations was finalized as an organization after the ratification of the charter.

June 26, 1945-

Ocotber 24, 1945-
