Declaration of Independence Fall 2011

The Declaration of Independence was the document that gave the United States its independence in the year 1776. It was written on the 4th of July, which became the day in which we celebrate our independence every year. Congress adopted this document and announced that the 13 American colonies would become 13 states instead; with their own government, laws, and society. These new states would become a country, known as the United States of America. The country would start to expand in states, growing up to 50, the number that we have today. The Declaration of Independence is always brought up when talking about freedom, rights, and non-solitude.
