Monroe Doctrine- A U.S. policy that states the activities and rights of the European powers involving in the Western Hemisphere.

Colonization- The act of establishing colonies. This was eventually stopped by The Monroe Doctrine in the Western Hemisphere.

Expansionists- People who believe in the idea of expanding.

Western Hemisphere-Half of the world that lies west of the Prime Meridian

European Powers- Germany and the French
