James Monroe was the fifth president of the United States from 1817 to 1825. James Monroe was born on April 28, 1758, in Monroe Hall, Virginia. He died on July 4, 1831, in New York City, New York. He was elected President in 1816, winning by 80% electoral vote. After he became president, he introduces Monroe Doctrine in 1823, which warns European countries from intervention in Americas politics.
