Operation Cyclone- aiding anti-Soviet Mujahideen Forces in Afghanistan.

Also code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program (CIA) to train, arm, and finance a group known as the Afghan Mujahideen (meaning struggle) during the Soviet war of 1979 to 1989 in Afghanistan. Operation Cyclone was very expensive, if not the most expensive for the CIA. They began funding the group with $20-30 million per year until 1980 then the price of funding then rose to $630 million in the year of 1987. The soviets tried to take over the Middle-East making it a communist area but with the help of the American's, the Mujahideen group defeated them.
