End of the League of Nations

Eventually the League of Nations came to an end after the Abyssinian crisis. In1937 Italy had left the League , and a few other countries. As soon as theses countries left many began to re-arm themselves as quickly as possible. During 1938, France and Britain tried a new policy called the Appeasement, negotiating directly with Hitler. The Appeasement failed in 1939 when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia and war broke out. The League closed when war broke out, but its headquarters in Geneva remained empty during the entire war. In 1943 America, Britain, and Russia agreed to set up the new organization the United Nations. April 12, 1946 League of Nations officially abolished itself.
