The Korean War

The Korean War began on June 25th, 1950-July 27th, 1953 and was the first military action of the Cold War. This was a war between North and South Korea. This war was actually meant as a defense technique in order to eliminate all of the communists that were living in South Korea. Unfortunately matters got worse when the United Nations, Canada, Australia and the United States interfered to help out South Korea. China and the Soviet Union were North Korea's allies. The Korean War divided North and South Korea at the 38th parallel. North Korea was taken over by Kim II-Sung and he was in favor of communism. Kim II-Sung wanted to unify North and South Korea all under communism. South Korea was taken over by Syngman Rhee, and he supported democracy. The 3 year war left many American soldiers die and as of April 2015, approximately more than 7,000 soldiers are still not unaccounted for.
