How It Affected the World

The Barbary War was barely a war, all the United States did was move warships off the coast and seize the palace until the pirate chieftain agreed not to attack American boats. The rest of the world did not want to deal with the issue at hand which was the pirates stealing. The war was one of the first examples of the United States taking a stand against global theft. The European countries at the time gave the pirates what they wanted which was money so that they would not harass their vessels but the U.S knew they could not let it keep happening.
