How it affected the World

The Spanish American war affected the world in some ways. The treaty of Paris ended the war which freed Cuba, gave Puerto Rico and Guam to the United States and sold the Philippines for $20 million. The United States became a colonial empire and now became a global power. The war also led Spain to stop worrying about colonial adventures and started to worry for its domestic needs. This led to a cultural renaissance and economic development in Spain.
