1830s - Britain and France forced Hawaii into accepting treaties that would eventually give them more economic benefits.
1842 - Daniel Webster sent a letter to Hawaiian agents stating the interest America had in Hawaii.
1897 - The Hawaiian Patriotic League petitioned the U.S. congress in the opposition of the treaty.
February 4th, 1898 - The senate was not able to pass the Hawaii annexation treaty because of the head count.
July 7th, 1898 - McKinley signs the joint resolution
July 12th, 1989 - Hawaii was annexed by the U.S. President McKinley.
August 12th, 1898 - The formal ceremony marking the annexation was held at Iolani Palace
1900s - Hawaii becomes U.S. territory.
August 21, 1959 - Hawaii becomes the United States 50th state.
