Why Is This Important

The Declaration of Independence is very important to America because it is what led to our independence from King George III. The Declaration of Independence was almost like a warning, stating we want our natural born rights and will fight over it. The document had certain ideals that the colonists believed were important for man to have, such as liberty and equality. The Declaration also plays a big role in our history and world. It is because of the Declaration that women are now treated the same as men and that all races are treated equally(somewhat). This was the first and official statement by the Colonies to the British government that they would no longer recognize British rule, and was a statement to fellow Colonists that it was time for the Colonies to be governed by themselves. The Declaration of Independence eventually led to the American Revolutionary War because Britain wasn't willing to let go without a fight. Signed on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is considered the birthday of our nation. It helped shape some of the amendments and without it, the United States of America may not have ever come to exist.
