The United States' people were also greatly affected, and because of all the casualties, it made them intrusting of the government. Many people did not agree with the idea of the United States getting involved in a war that was unnecessary and irrelevant to the United States. The Vietnam War not only affected the United States emotionally, but also economically. The Vietnam war caused a lot of controversy in the United States, and people reacted with peace protests, and anti-war rallies. This was the United States way of coping with a war that was irrelevant.
