History of the Philippine-American War

The Philippine-American war lasted from 1899 to 1902. After the United States claimed victory in the Spanish-American War of 1898, Spain passed on it's strongest colony the Philippines in the treaty of Paris. On February 4, 1899, two days before the U.S senate signed the treaty of Paris, war broke out between the Americans and Filipinos. They wanted independence instead of being controlled. The Philippine-American war lasted three years resulting in a death of over 4,200 Americans and 20,000 Filipinos. This topic relates to foreign policy because of the treaty of Paris of 1898 which was a agreement made between the U.S and Spain to hand the remaining of the Spanish Empires.
