Timeline

1944 - The Dumbarton Oaks Conference was held from August to October. Its central goal was to examine the making of a universal association to keep up peace after WWII. The United States, the Soviet Union, China and Great Britain went to the gathering. The subsequent Dumbarton Oaks Charter shaped the structure for the U.N. Sanction.

1945 - The United Nations was authoritatively conceived as an association taking after the confirmation of its Charter.

1950 - North Korea attacked South Korea. The U.N. Security Council reacted with a call to all countries to go to the guide of South Korea and repulse the intrusion. The movement succeeded simply because the Soviet Union was boycotting the U.N. Security Council.

1960 - Seventeen new states, sixteen of which were from Africa, were admitted to the United Nations.

1975 - The Cambodian Genocide started. In four years, 1.7 million individuals (21% of that nation's populace) were slaughtered. The United Nations made no endeavor to stop it.

1980 - The Iran-Iraq war started. The United Nations required a quick truce. The war proceeded until 1988.

1990 - Iraq attacked Kuwait. The U.N. Security Council in this manner approved the utilization of power to oust him. The United States reacted by driving Operation Desert Storm and freeing Kuwait.

1999 - With an end goal to stop ethnic purifying, NATO started a bombarding effort in Serbia without U.N. approval taking after years of talk and inaction by the U.N. Security Council. The move prompted questions about the Security Council's significance.

2003 - After the United Nations neglected to act, the United States drove a coalition into Iraq.
