Since the conversation is continuing, and for flexibility and to make my point again, how about "Folk Project Friday Night Concerts" for Friday nights, and "Folk Project Concerts" for others (e.g., "Folk Project Open Stage Concerts")?
(I'm almost afraid to speak up and a little embarrassed to be writing this, but, you guys kindly included me in a Board position in the club. Anyway, I am kind of surprised that people don't understand that "Friday night" has a particular meaning for Jewish people? (For example, if I heard the name "Sunday Morning Concert Series, I would wonder if it was a Christian thing...) This is a little different, but some might immediately tune out if this was the name. It's a little hard to explain. Even though there are restrictions on what we can do on Shabbat (starting on Friday night) Reform Jews may decide to do things - like go to a concert, or use electricity (thank you, modern times). I don't always go to Temple on Friday nights, but I always have in mind that it's the Sabbath and I probably should be there. Thus, the choice I make to do something else reflects my choice that this is an equivalent or better thing to do. So, choosing to go to a Friday night concert is actually a sacred choice. (Yes, I do sit there thinking that...my Dad was a very devout Reform Jew, and we always went to services on Friday night.)
Now, if I choose to go to a concert series named "Friday Night Concert Series," it kind of displaces Shabbat. If I choose to attend a concert that is called "Folk Project Concert Series," and happens to be on a Friday night, it's not like I am replacing the Sabbath with an equivalent activity.) I'm sorry if I can't make my feelings about this more clear, and I also wonder why I'm even bringing this up (except that I also did not clearly hear when the vote on the name was taken during the Tuesday Board Meeting, and I also don't think we took the proper time to hear everyone out on it).
Like Gary said at first, this is an important decision and we should take the opportunity to be creative about it. Creativity to me means being expansive, not restrictive, and I think the chosen name is the latter. Like Mitch also says.
Thanks for your ears.

Elly,
There were many years, when I did not go to Minstrel because my family and I were having Shabbat dinner, and it’s hard to be in two places at once. That was my personal decision, and I am sure there are others who are not coming to Minstrel for similar reasons. But it’s still our Friday night concert series, so why we would not be able to call it that.
On another note, I was just at a “Horses” recording session and someone joked about calling our recording Saturday Night Live.
How about calling the series "Friday Night Live”.

I almost missed this in all the chatter but Elly makes some points that we should acknowledge and be aware of so to determine if we should be sensitive to them.
