What a difference a month makes. Whereas the December 2012 report appeared to put the Minstrel at a modest gain over the previous year, the dismal comparison between December 2012 and December 2011 (which was included in the previous report) entirely reversed that trend. Attendance for the one regular show (Chorus Song Night) in December ’12 was only 33 (Lowest since 2006). Whereas the 2 regular shows in December ’11 averaged 136. (Dec. 11 included the huge Dugan’s Hooligans farewell concert, whereas the prime slot between Chirstmas and New Years where that concert took place was preempted by the Trout Fishing Special Concert this year.) As a result, the average attendance for 2012 for regular shows was 87.0 for 2012 compared with 91.2 for 2011. If you include all shows, the figures are 74.2 in 2012 vs 77.5 in 2011.
Once again I cannot report financial figures because the December shows have not yet been posted to Quickbooks.
However, we seem to be off to a fine start in 2013 with 160+ paid for the Kennedys show last Friday, and excellent prospects for the RUNA Agranoff Imperative show on the 25th barring blizzards, earthquakes, the re-emergence of Dan Quale into politics, or other disasters.
Our admission price has gone up to $8.00 as of this month. There appears to have been sufficient advance notice of this so that there have been no riots at the admissions desk from outraged patrons.
