There were no shows scheduled for taping in February. I rescheduled the two shows that got messed up in December, but the artists who we tried to tape in January are not so fast to return. Caleb Hawley seems reticent to commit to coming back given his busy schedule and Michele Citrin says she wants to do it, but needs to save up some $ so she can pay her accompanists to come out with her again.
I asked the Cablevision Tech if he had figured out the source of the loud buzz in the audio that ruined our last 2 shows. He replied:
Hello Ralph,
I did a show in Randolph recently and the audio was fine after I normalled the audio board and compressor. Every button and knob was pushed and turned so I'm not exactly sure but all of the monitoring inputs were pressed simultaneously on the audio board, so I think that has something to do with it. I heard the buzz until I corrected things, so let's make sure that you do a test record before you get going and also, as a matter of course, check audio and video after each show; don't just put the tape away and consider it a done deal.
We've been having some issues with the next dept. over and I wonder if they haven't messed with our equipment. I've requested a lock be installed on the control room door so I don't have to even wonder about whether someone has been playing around in there. We shall see. I'm also trying to have those conduit pipes removed from the studio and install a proper audio snake; it's a mess of audio cables and camera 1 can't get close enough to the wall in most cases.
